City of Camarillo Transportation Engineering Job!
The City of Camarillo is seeking a motivated and service-oriented professional Engineer to join our Traffic Division team. We are recruiting to fill one vacancy. The position will be filled based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Associate Engineer: $8,685.13 – $13,027.70/mo
Associate Civil Engineer: $9,119.38 – $13,679.07/mo
Senior Civil Engineer: $10,054.11 – $15,081.18/mo
About the Opportunity
The ideal candidate will be an independent, proactive professional with a strong foundation in civil or transportation engineering. They will bring a blend of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, customer service excellence, and a passion for improving transportation systems that serve the public.
Key Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and progressive experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, or land development
- Experience preparing and reviewing traffic signal timing plans, signal coordination models, traffic impact studies, speed surveys, and warrant analyses
- Demonstrated ability to review traffic control plans, signing and striping layouts, construction detours, and ensure compliance with CA MUTCD and safety standards
- Experience conducting traffic counts, speed studies, field investigations, and preparing technical reports and exhibits
- Knowledge of traffic safety improvements including pedestrian crossings, bike lanes, school safety enhancements, and traffic calming projects
- Experience reviewing community and land development plans, CIP plans, compiling or implementing bikeway master plans
- Familiarity with federal and state grant funding processes (SS4A, HSIP, ATP, CMAQ) and experience collaborating with regional agencies such as VCTC
- Working knowledge of traffic signal systems, including operations, timing, and maintenance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to respond to public inquiries, attend meetings, and coordinate with consultants, developers, and internal departments
- Experience mentoring engineering technicians and traffic signal staff in day-to-day operations
