President’s Message – ITE Brand Initiative

General

ITE International is in the middle of an initiative to align the ITE brand across the various District and Sections. The goal is to reinforce ITE as the collaborative transportation industry leader reaching across the various transportation disciplines. The brand initiative process is looking at how each District and Section identifies by name, message, and logo. The initiative is expected to be completed later this year with new guidelines to introduce consistency to the ITE brand while trying to keep local character.

Our ITE Central Coast Section Logo was created in 2010 as a way to promote the District Annual meeting in Santa Barbara in 2012 and the Section Board decided to keep the logo moving forward. Based on the branding recommendations I have reviewed and the meetings I have attended, it appears that we will at least have to make some changes to our logo by making the “ITE” International logo larger and by adding the “A Commiunity of Transportation Professionals” tag line underneath the logo. We will also have to make changes to the website to also reflect this change.

May 23, 2024 – Joint Meeting with Cal Poly SLO Student Chapter

Join the ITE Central Coast Section and Cal Poly SLO’s ITE Student Chapter for a Joint Hybrid Meeting on Thursday, May 23rd from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM! The meeting will be held in-person at Cal Poly SLO (Building 192, Room 106) and via Zoom. Lunch will be provided for all in-person attendees. The topic will be SLO Transit’s transition to zero-emission buses (ZEBs) and related infrastructure improvements presented by Alex Fuchs, Mobility Services Business Manager for the City of San Luis Obispo

Alex Fuchs is the Mobility Services Business Manager for the City of San Luis Obispo. He oversees finance and operations for the City’s transit service, SLO Transit. Alex also manages transit-related capital improvement projects and oversees administration of state & federal grants. Alex started working for the City over ten years ago after graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in City and Regional Planning. He is currently updating SLO Transit’s 5-year Short Range Transit Plan, continuing the transition to zero-emission technologies, and coordinating promotional events this year for SLO Transit’s 50th anniversary.

Our next meeting will be on October 24th at Noon.

Jeff Hereford, Principal Transportation Engineer with the City of Ventura, will present an update of their current active transportation efforts, including the City’s Active Transporation Plan, Montalvo and Sheridan way capital projects, bicycle education programs, and the upcoming Santa Paula Branch Line bike path project.

Vendor Show is Back!!!!

The ITE Central Coast Section Vendor Show on November 16, 2023!

This year’s Vendor Show Meeting will take place at the City of Ventura, Community Meeting Room. This event will be a great opportunity for members to meet vendors and learn about new technology and services that may be useful in their daily transportation needs. Vendors will also be giving a short presentation to further showcase their products and services. If you are unable to attend in person, you can still watch the presentations via Zoom. We hope to see you there!

We are also pleased to invite vendors and consulting firms to reserve an exhibition table and/or sponsor the event. Reserving an exhibition table includes a timed slot to present your products and services to our members. But hurry! Vendor spots are filling up quickly, so be sure to reserve your spot ASAP! Alternatively, you can sponsor the event by purchasing a sign with your company logo to be displayed during the meeting. By participating in either of these options, you will help us raise funds to support Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s ITE Student Chapter.
